Frontier Medical Products manufactures the Sharpsafe range of purpose-designed plastic sharps containers, which are used in a wide variety of healthcare applications, from hospital wards into the community.

Frontier Exchange products are a response to the growing need for needle exchange and harm reduction packs, and are manufactured to the same high standards as the other products in the Sharpsafe range.

Frontier has seen an increase in the number of injecting drug users in the UK and subsequently, the number of needle exchange schemes, and have developed the packaging side of the business to meet the subsequent growing requirement for needle exchange packs. As this trend continues to grow Frontier are constantly developing new products and upgrading existing products to more closely meet the needs of needle exchange and harm reduction schemes and to ensure that suitable products are available to such schemes.

The Exchange range originally consisted of the 0.45 litre container, but has now been extended to include containers from the 0.2 litre upwards together with a 30 litre container which can be used to dispose of returned used Exchange containers.

The development of pack contents has also evolved rapidly with packs available either ‘off-the-shelf’ or custom-made to specific order requirements. Packs now typically contain needles, syringes, alco-wipes, condoms, lubricating jelly and sterilised citric acid, together with a Sharpsafe container, in any combination or quantity that the customer may require.

Recently, Frontier has noticed an increasing requirement from needle exchange customers for a 'one stop shop' service from suppliers. In response to this Frontier has also begun to produce own-brand paraphernalia.
