Introducing the range of Ultra Low Dead Space needles
Healthcare and service providers know that needle and syringe sharing is a problem amongst people who inject drugs (PWID) and equipment sharing has been shown to increase the risk of transmitting blood borne viruses (BBVs) such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV between users (1). This can have severe consequences on health and is also a drain on healthcare resources.
Frontier’s Ultra Low Dead Space needles may help to reduce the risk of blood borne virus transmission by significantly reducing the dead space in a syringe, therefore minimising exposure to potentially contaminated blood fluid.
Unlike traditional needle and syringe combinations which have no low dead space features, Frontier’s Ultra Low Dead Space needles offer safer drug injecting practises without having to change injecting technique or alter habits. They are available in all commonly used sizes and can be accessed directly from Frontier or through NHS SC.
